Sierra Leone Market Women Association (SLMWA) are part of the Sierra Leone trade union, they offer lots of support and
charity work to women and children of Sierra Leone.
Education of Girls
For a nation to be rated there focused must be on education for its children as there biggest priority. For the
last couple of years, education and especially education of the girls in Sierra Leone has occupied center stage in
the educational development.

To boost government's efforts in ensuring that education reaches the most disadvantaged of society, many well meaning
Market woman in Sierra Leone have been trying to assist the less fortunate children access education in their communities. Amongst
them is the Sierra Leone Market Women Association. Through the dynamic leadership of their President, Mrs. Marie Vandy,
the market women from the east-end of Freetown established a community pre-school at Shell Lane Kissy.
Also the Market woman in Sierra Leone and women civic groups are using their awful experiences, at the hands of male combatants
during the brutal civil war, to resist male control and domination in societal institutions.
